Brent N. DeLong, DDS
Dr. DeLong was raised in southern California but traveled north to attend college at the University of California, Davis, where he majored in Neurobiology. He worked as a researcher for a few years before moving to San Francisco to attend the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry. He was the recipient of numerous academic awards, and graduated with high honors at the top of his class, earning the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). He continued his postgraduate education by completing his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He became highly trained in dentoalveolar surgery (tooth/third molar removal), general anesthesia, dental implant surgery including the placement of zygomatic implants, the treatment of traumatic facial injuries, TMJ surgery, orthognathic surgery, cleft lip & palate surgery, and pathology. After graduation, Dr. DeLong served over 3 years on active duty in the United States Air Force where he was responsible for the training and education of 20 OMS residents. During his time on active duty, Dr. DeLong was awarded the Robert I. Delo Award for Outstanding Academic and Surgical Mentorship for his dedication to resident training. He was also responsible for training the AEGD residents in complex exodontia (tooth removal) and IV anesthesia. He was honorably discharged in 2017 at the rank of Major. Dr. DeLong and his family then moved to North Carolina where they joined the well-respected practice of Dr. Phil Jamison.
Dr. DeLong practices the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. While his private practice focuses on dental-alveolar surgery including wisdom teeth removal, dental implants and advanced bone grafting techniques, his hospital-based procedures focus on corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma repair and infections. He has been trained in the most technologically advanced forms of treatment of the facial bones utilizing CT guided Virtual Surgical Planning. He is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support.
Dr. DeLong is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, as well as a member of the North Carolina Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and the Gaston County Dental Society.
In their free time, Dr. DeLong and his wife Kristin enjoy traveling, running, skiing, attending sporting events, and dining out, and spending time with their son Baker and identical twin girls, Brittain and Bowie!
